Doug Wimbish, a versatile bassist known for his eclectic musical contributions, made a name for himself during the ’80s. His extensive session work spans pop, rock, heavy metal, funk, and experimental genres. Known for his time with the house band of renowned rap label Sugar Hill, he backed Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, notably on the Message album. He also collaborated with British dub reggae experimentalist Adrian Sherwood, and formed the band Tackhead. Post his stint with Living Colour, Wimbish focused on session work, contributing to albums by Madonna, the Rolling Stones, Seal, and others. In 1999, he released his first solo album, Trippy Notes for Bass.
